Take Five 🌳
A New Regular Feature for Busy (and Not-So Busy) People
I know it’s not always possible to take a long break from work, family, or school to meditate, rest, or stretch, even when you really need it. Fortunately, it’s always possible to take a short moment to refresh your body and mind.
In this spirit, I’m offering a new regular feature called Take Five. In Take Five I’ll share brief wisdom teachings from Buddhism, contemporary culture or other traditions. My hope is that these short instructions — quotes, videos, audio recordings — will interrupt your busy thought stream to help you rest and recharge before resuming your responsibilities. I also hope Take Five teachings will encourage and inspire you, and perhaps illuminate an insight or an intuitive understanding which will reconnect you to your compassionate and wise nature.
Take Five will be free to all subscribers, at least for the next few months. If you like it, I hope you’ll share it with your network and support my efforts to bring mindfulness and kindness to as many people as possible. If you have comments or suggestions to improve it, please do let me know by replying to this email.
For our first Take Five lesson, I'm sharing perhaps the most well-known pop culture dharma talk, from the famous enlightened master, Yoda. For this and all our Take Five instructions, please set a timer five minutes, watch the clip, then close your computer screen and your eyes, and sit quietly. Follow your breath in your belly if you need an anchor for your attention. Stay here until the alarm sounds, then thank yourself and resume your work slowly.
Metta+++,
Kim✨
