I’ve enjoyed a happy and peaceful holiday vacation this past week — but at the same time, it’s been very hectic. I find that my mind is more scattered than usual, distracted by entertaining and enjoyments, and also caught up in excitement and conversation. So, even though it’s been a pleasant time, I feel tired and disconnected. And that’s a signal to me to take a break and pay closer attention to myself.
Today’s meditation is designed to help you re-gather your fragmented awareness, let go of your fantasies and anticipations, and rest in present-moment experience of your body/mind. We’ll practice mindfulness, and conclude with these Metta phrases:
May you/I/we stay connected to my true self.
May you/I/we be steady and brave.
And we’ll take inspiration from this instruction:
Go back and take care of yourself. Your body needs you, your feelings need you, your perceptions need you. Your suffering needs you to acknowledge it. Go home and be there for all these things.
― Thich Nhat Hanh, Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child
Note: Remember — all the meditations can be adapted for anyone of any ability. If you can’t walk, sit. If you can’t sit, lie down. There is no wrong way to meditate as long as you’re present centered, paying attention, and meeting yourself with kindness.
Enjoy today’s practice and rejoice in your good sense and open heart! I hope you’ll share your experience and questions in the comments.
Metta+++,
